A lot of drivers fail to put on their turn signal or if they do so they do it about 3 seconds before they turn, what other laws are being ignored driving and otherwise?

    #812584

two guys of a certain european ethnic group were driving. some one called out to the driver that his left turn signal was broken

so he told hid friend to get out and watch while he turned on the turn signal

    his friend said:

    its working

    wait, no, its broken

    no its working

    broken

    working

    broken

Here’s one that’s frequently ignored: Don’t use an apostrophe to make a plural. 🙂

Some people ignore the rules regarding when to use an apostrophe or not. 🙂

Middle, it’s actually a written rule. Have a look at the coffeeroom rules.

What is a “patrol groan?” 🙂

That’s the noise we make whenever we find out we’ve been assigned to the YWN CR again. 😉

(On the other hand, we reach our quota of tickets quickly.)

HaLeiVi: That’s a good catch. In fact, here are some more rules that are frequently broken.

haifa- its so annoying when you get so nitty gritty here with the grammar but whatever.

MP- it was an error. its not a mistake that I make that often so….

adorable, I know it was an error. Don’t worry. You usually never write in all caps. I was just trying to be clever.

No backing up in an intersection. I, of course, got “nabbed” for this one, while I’ve seen countless unsuspecting drivers committing this “heinous” act themselves! For shame, for shame!

Making phone calls and texting while driving is a very ignored law.

so is not spitting in the street. yes, its illegal and you can get a ticket.

    #812606

When in town this week i still noticed too many drivers holding their cell phones and talking while driving. They were so engrossed in their conversation that they easily passed red lights. I will be meeting with community officials to see if we can start writing community tickets that will raise money for those in need of our community. It will be called KEHILLA TRAFFIC TICKETS and the money raised will go for parents whose children will be sitting home this September because they cannot afford tuition and don’t qualify because of being too honest.!

    #812607

puting on your turn signal “3 seconds” before turning may not be an actual violation. the NYS Motor Vehicle Code requires that turn signals must be given no less that 100 feet from the intersection. To cover 100 feet in 3 seconds you only have to be going 11 MPH.

“Making phone calls and texting while driving is a very ignored law.”

I didn’t know they passed a law that we have to do that!

Of the former, I am innocent. Of the latter, I am constantly guilty and deserving of whatever punishments the members of my shul wish to mete out to me, including ostracization, expulsion and/or execution.

Drivin into an intersection when your vehicle cannot cross completely!

causing cross traffic not being able to pass!

drivers should be ticketed for that rather than parking your car in crosswalk for a few minutes!!!

Cars ARE ticketed for that if caught.

Not wearing seat belts is a law that’s usually not followed and it should be. It’s so dangerous not wearing a seat belt. It’s automatic for me.

I recommend that just for rosh hashana, Wolf should try to restrict his talking to only 6 aliyos, instead of 8.

On another note, the rav of my shul always talks during shofar. Plus, the chazan always talks during chazaras hashatz.

I should add, that even though Wolf claims not to talk during chazaraz hashatz, he is then guilty of not answering amen, and kedusha. Shver tzu zein Wolf.

I do answer amen, etc. Since that is *required* speaking, it is obvious that it is allowed. The talking I do during laining is not required — it is completely my option to do it or not do it — and, as such, I am responsible for any punishments that my shul wishes to mete out to me on account of it.

What makes you say answering amen is any more mandatory than laining?

Yes, you could choose to be the chazzan, and then not have to answer amen.

See now, if you want to feel guilty for leining, maybe this is a better way to do it:

If nobody leined, then nobody in the congregation could talk during leining. So, by your leining, you are doing lifnei iver for the whole shul.

Because I am required to answer amen to brachos. I am not required to lain.

Had I davened in a different shul, you might have a point. Fortunately, however, I happen to daven in a shul where I am the only one who talks during laining.

Sounds like you should switch to a shul where everyone talks during leining.

    My driving pet peeves:

    1. Use your turn signal!!

    2. If you are making a right turn, please move as far to the right as possible.

    3. The left lane is the passing lane. If there is someone behind you, move over.

    4. When parking, please pull as far up or back as possible to allow another car to fit in as well.

On behalf of the NY’ers out there:

    5. A 5 second stop in middle of the street to say hello to your friend can mean that the person behind you misses the light, bus or train.
