goody613: i like them too! got anymore?
helps sometimes to say the “Baruch attah Hashem…” in each bracha in the niggun used in Rosh Hashana
Rav Yaakov Emden says that if all yidden would daven with kavana he gurantees that mashiach will come
goody613: so lets all start davening with more kavana!
jax: that’s what this thread is trying to do!!!!! ;0)
goody613: yes! (only use one ”!” please-it’s a cr rule)
72: he’s making me jealous with all the ”!”
regarding Aleinu: (I always work backwards;))
– keep in mind that your t’fillah is a gift and Aleinu is the wrapping. It’s all in the presentation…
– one posuk always holds my attention: shelo ossonu k’goyey ha’aratzos v’lo somonu k’mishpachos ha’adama, shelo sum chelkeinu kahem v’goraleinu k’chol hamonom. Sheheim mishtachavim LOHEVEL VORIK u’mispalelim el k-l V’LO YOSHIA! V’ANACHNU korim! u’mishtachavim! u’modim! lifnei MELECH MALCHEI HAMLACHIM HAKADOSH BARUCH HU! she’hu noteh shomayim…
I literally smirk to myself every time I say this posuk. It’s such a smug feeling :):) What a bunch of bumbling fools they are!
Now don’t get me wrong- I am not this outstanding davener- this is just a posuk that always makes me take notice & helps me focus on the rest of ALEINU
this rosh hashana my kaballah was to say aleinu inside a siddur these days aleinu is said as tefillas haderech
areivim: that’s awesome! nice sort of vort!
goody, mine was to say aleinu standing in one place, no guarantees about the siddur though.
Jax I knew I could rely on you for support of my weird ideas!! ;);)
areivim: well hey what are friends for! to support nutty ideas! 🙂
boy Jax are you giving me the creeps… I just had this exact conversation with a good friend of mine in real life 😮
anonimis: that’s also good
R’ Moshe said to help your concentration- try thinking of something new you saw in the world.
what i like to do is imagine a throne in front of me and just speak to someone. dont just say the words, try to feel that your talking to G-D.emphasize when you say Atah so you should remember this
goody613: that’s a good tip! thanx!
areivim: no, i didn’t recently have that conversation with a friend! but how are you so certain that we don’t know each other!?
Jax- one can never be too certain in this here CR ;). But for reasons of my own, I don’t think we know each other. Maybe know OF each other…
now- back to davening- forward march!
areivim: gotcha! froward march in tefillah!
i once heard someone saying in front of the queen of england you cant have your hands in your pockets by davening everybody has their hands in their pockets. In front of a melech basar vedom al achas kama vekama Melech Malchei Homlochim HK”BH
goody613: great point with hands in pockets!
the only thing you may hold in your hand during davening, besides for a siddur, is a tissue! so that rule-halacha means no cell phones too!
Daven to get rid of this epidemic
yeah davening is all we can do
thanx MKY for reminding me about this. i saw in pathway to prayer by S’lach lanu that the Rosh writes he wishes there was a S’lach lanu for saying S’lach lanu w/o kavana. what a chutzpah it is to ask forgiveness and not mean it!
yup, we all do it!!
goody, when do you start yeshiva?
bwhat makes you say i am in yeshiva?!
Beautiful point, goody!
goody, the way you talk.
anyone who wants to be able to daven shemoneh esray the right way should buy pathway to prayer
