trump wants to have good turnout in the midterms so he could effectively lead the country. look at the big picture.
Ask why TACO explains Trump. Trump doesn’t want to take risks. If the US attacks Iran, and the result is the loss of several American war ships (costing hundred of billions of dollars, and claiming thousand of lives – remember no American ship has been sunk in combat since World War II, and they probably are quite vulnerable to drone swarms), and all Persian Gulf oil is cut off for many years (oil fields are also vulnerable) – where does that leave Trump. He hopes to get concessions by bluffing, but he won’t risk being seen as a gigantic LOSER if he fails. And if the US is in a mess over IRAN, that can be an opening for Russia in Eastern Europe (not just Ukraine), and China in East Asia (not just Taiwan). Trump’s career suggests an ability to realize what is failing, and to cut losses and quit.
What does it mean to Israel. They probably should stop depending of foreign aid — not just American credits to buy weapons, but tzadaka from Diaspora Jews that will be blocked once Israel is declared a criminal entity, as most of the left wing parties and pro-Islamic groups want. Israel should either find a way to cut a deal with the Palestinians, or become self-sufficient (meaning give up their first world standard of living, which would cause most of their ruling class and “Start Up Nation” to leave).

In my opinion, trump critics do not pass basic logical test. In any situation – consider potential outcomes and what would the critics say? The answer is – whatever the outcome it will be criticized. At best, it will be dismissed as not a big deal. Thus, most of it is not serious. Granted, it was much easier to criticize Bush/Obama/Biden – they chose a path and followed it consistently, some times doubling down in the face of failure. With Trump, as he changes direction based on the events, his critics have to change their attack lines so often that they lose credibility. Of course it is a brocha in disguise, and applies to other republicans – criticism helps identify mistakes and correct them. Dems are not so lucky.
The Torah teaches us to respect the President, government. This thread doesn’t meet that standard and shouldn’t be here therefore.
Actually, Trump is doing what’s in his best benefit and arguably the benefit of the US. Bibi on the other hand is at a breaking point. israel is to reliant on the US which makes israel need to comply with US interest over their own. Look what recently happened with hezballah, it’s outta hand. It’s time israel gains financial and military independence. It’s the only path to strength.
I feel like anyone who makes fun of trump it’s like, their angry for some reason they didn’t get their way and they lost control. It’s so stupid honestly. I don’t know what the heck is flying with Iran i cant figure it out for the life of me but I’m sure once it’s over things will go back to normal. I think people forget that Iran litterally unalived 40,000 protesters before trump swooped in. Like let’s be for real. And arresting meduro was nothing. Please. Hate all you want but you just reveal yourself for the inconsistencies and anger that has no root in reality
I think calling trump a wimp or TACO is kind of an argument that lacks intellect. At the end of the day the guy has guts and did what no other president was ready to do which is to kill a bunch of leaders of a failry strong country. The man has guts for sure. Now here is the thing. Trump believes in quick wars. He isn’t anti war like people try to qoute him. They misunderstand his campiagn promise of no wars. He means to say no long drawn out stuff that last for years like Iraq with boots on the ground.. But he loves the in and out stuff and never meant to rule that out. Now it’s true that such an idea maybe misguided. Like don’t pick a battle unless you can finish it till the end. But don’t forget, noone has ever succeeded seeing a war to the end in modern history. From Vietnam, Afghanistan Iraq, Israel’s prior wars since 67 etc, even Russia and Ukriane, wars just never end. You can’t really full conquer or defeat unless you nuke an entire population like we did in 1945. So whats your choices in fighting wars? The trump idea is smack them and back down. Like this it weaknes them, its in and out and hopefully overtime it changes them. We can debate that but out of all the crazy trump ideas, this isn’t a crazy one. Granted israel has a different goal but that’s the USA goal
Trump is doing what he is forced to do. His administration and his supporters are against this war. They do not want ground troops to be sent to Iran. They don’t want American soldiers to die in what they feel is a war to benefit only Israel. And they are right.
But I also think it is beneficial for Israel to stop this war with Iran. I was against the war from the beginning. This war is about Netanyahu saving himself politically and nothing more. It has not only not accomplished anything, it has only established to the world that Iran is not a paper tiger and cannot be taken down easily, which is the the lie Netanyahu has sold Trump.
The only way the US and Israel would be able to take down the Iranian government is by sending in ground troops. Which would mean hundreds of American (and Israeli deaths). And billions of dollars spent. Americans don’t want that and rightfully so. Despite Netanyahu’s insistance that they are on the verge of producing a nuclear bomb, in reality, Iran’s nuclear capabilities was shut down over the years through covert operations. Netanyahu has been saying for DECADES that Iran is on the verge of producing a nuclear bomb and it has never materialized. Whoever believes the manipulator Netanyahu is naive. Trump knows he fell for Netanyahu’s lies, particularly the lie that the Iranian government will fall quickly because the Iranian people will rise up against against them too and help win the US and Israel win the war. It never materialized. Netanyahu is a liar and manipulator and doesn’t care about his people their losing lives needlessly. Had this war gone on like Netanyahu had intended, hundreds, and perhaps even thousands, of Israelis would lose their lives.
