So Popa, I just spent night Seder at the Peterson Park Kollel. Were you there? Oh yeah, you said you’re not coming back till Wednesday. Are you still scheduled to return to our windy city tomorrow?

A shofar sounds like a New Yorker driving behind a Chicagoan.

Every shul in chicago should call up “popa bar abba” for shlishi this shabbos. See if he’s willing to risk not coming up.

    ????? ???? I’m not a kohen?

    #832745

good one squeak! but they should call him up for glila. 🙂

popa- that’s it i’m coming to get you! i will be at the kollel learning tonight watching for an unfamiliar face. u will be able to find me by looking for the only female there hiding behind a gemara, pretending to learn. if you see me before i see you, come over and introduce urself. sit and learn with me. i bet no one will know a thing. (i’ll put on a hat just in case)

and btw, you are so against chicagoans, but all the ppl who you deal with (seems like ur in the kollel a lot) just recently (within the last two years) moved here from lakewood! oh well, there goes that theory! just how many true chicagoans are you dealing with?

midwesterner, let’s make a big “welcome back popa” sign to hang on the kollel building, and have your wife bake a cake, walk in and say “this is for papa! where is popa?” who would refuse cake?

jlk: Well, why don’t you buy the paper this week and see if I’m there!

Sem 20: Yes Yedidim has a name. And if you live south of Peterson, you probably know it. After all, its on his license plate! And will I see you this afternoon? BTW, what makes one a Telzer that seems to offend so many people on this thread? If you’re there second seder, doesn’t that mean you’re part of the team? Unless, of course you yourself are Yedidim! Then I understand why you don’t call yourself a Telzer . . . yet.

    mak: Good one!

Yummy: Have you had my wife’s yummy cupcakes? You know they can also be found in the aformentioned Yated!

Gefen: She saw your comment. She’s following this thread as well. And I actually saw your son at the “Car Show” last night.

And to Popa: The gauntlet has been thrown down. We’ll see what we can come up with.

Bais Ushy is the best shtiebel in Chicago.

It has a real name (Khal Ohr Yissochor Chodrov), but it often called bais ushy after the founder.

Well, we settled the original issue. We all now know what a shofar sounds like. So why not?

Get a Kobe steak. It’s delicious and “very healthy” and don’t forget to hit the bar. I go there often and it’s a great place. By the way what made you pick Shallots? (just out of curiosity)

    This is Midwesterner’s wife:

How about Popa, Gefen and sem20 (and some others) all have a coffee reunion at Shallots?

Anyway, too busy with meetings to have fun going out.

Does anyone out there have a life beyond the coffee room? Some of us actually work for a living 🙂 (Oops, actually sem20 worked quite hard last night. Yasher koach on your hard work!)

I didn’t pick it. The people who are taking me for dinner picked it. They probably picked it because it is the only place in chicago to take someone on business, besides for metroKlub.

midwesterners wife – i actually do have a job. just don’t tell anyone that sometimes (only sometimes) i post from work. but usually i post from home – instead of making dinner, cleaning up, etc. 😉

you ask if anyone here has a life outside the coffee room. um…… actually this place is kind of addictive. but yeah – i guess i have other things to do. like maybe decide what to make for yom tov.

hmm – tomorrow night at Shallots? maybe instead of spending family time on the cr – we’ll spend it at shallots. sounds good to me. we’ll be there. can’t wait to meet u popa and whoever else from cr is coming.

midwesterner and mrs. midwesterner – chaplaintzvi says hi and he loved the cake too. come on and join everyone at shallots – surely you can take some time off for a little get together. right?

popa – did u see yummy cupcake at the kollel tonight? did she do a good job of hiding behind the gemara? did you learn with her?

I will be with 3 or 4 other people. One of them is frum.

I wasn’t in the kollel tonight, but I’m eating EJ’s pizza right now. And drinking beer from milwaukee (no, not miller. Lakefront.).
