It’s not a democracy because posts can be blocked by mods, so wheres freedom of speech?
The main contributors (you know who you are ;)) are a tight group to which outsiders are seldom welcome. They hold all the power of how a discussion flows. They are sort of self-elected officials. In another world they would all play golf together. So authoritarianism?
Its a multicultural group, open to people from all different walks of life, and anyone can join, so definitely an open immigration policy. But not a melting pot like USA, more a mosaic like Canada.
What do you think? Who is the President of the YWN Coffee Room?
(BTW this is meant to be humorous, hope Im not stepping on anyones toes…)

Oh, wait…
August 11, 2011 7:01 am at 7:01 am #796805Another nameParticipantIf it’s any consolation, if a thread or comment of yours is not posted or deleted, you can be certain that the MODS have read it!
President would be the YW editor, of course! Although, I don’t think that he can get impeached…
August 11, 2011 10:31 am at 10:31 am #796806mewhoParticipantsome blogs have rules posted on them for members to refer back to so they follow them. another blog has mods that email the poster a reason why their post hwas not posted or deleted.
not having a written set of rules leaves everything to the discretion of the mods. it also keeps membership down as people become frustrated and either leave or stop posting. some advertisers leave such sites as well .

I think you might be confused as to the definition of “democracy.” There is nothing in democracy that requires freedom of speech. You can have democracy without freedom of speech and you can have freedom of speech without democracy.
