    Sparkly – I am starting to worry about you. I don’t think you have posted for a while. I figured you might not have been able to post over Sukkos, but now Yom Tov is over, and I am getting WORRIED!!!!

    I doubt it. She was really depressed about an acquaintance’s suicide a few days before Rosh Hashana, and then she stopped posting shortly afterwards. That makes me nervous!

    BD”E I feel so sorry for sparkly. I think she just needs time. I know people who went through similar things. If she doesnt show up within 5 days, then id start to worry….

    Calm down. We teens are very moody and flighty. I remember diasapearing and reaperaing a lot here.

    Shopping – you’re not Sparkly. I am worried about her. But, in any case, there is nothing I can do about it. And you could be right, although my guess is that there is more to it than that.

    maybe she is busy with midterms.

    maybe her account was closed (I seem to remember some comment by a moderator recently about such a possibility)

    I agree with shopping that there is no reason to worry.

    no offense to anyone, but if you are starting to lose sleep over someone you dont even know then its time to also close your account (because its becoming too much part of your life) for all we know sparkly doesnt exist! Also look at the bright side- maybe she shtarked out and went to seminary. So maybe she is doing things more productive than chating on the CR like she used to do. We should all learn from Sparkly!

    Unless you’re a Jew and you have good reason to believe that the other person is also a Jew.

    Not saying I agree that people should start worrying, just saying that you have the wrong idea.

    Ditto. It’s a basic part of being a good Jew. Just for the record, I am not losing any sleep over it, although, if I were Rav Shach Zatsal or Rav Shlom Zalman Auerbach Zatsal, I would be.

    Rav Shach had a hard time eating breakfast every morning because he was thinking of all the Yiddishe kinderlach who were starting their day w/o saying Shema. And Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach lost sleep worrying about a boy he didn’t know whose grandfather was concerned about the fact that he was being sent to a less Frum school than he could have been.

    I’m not on that level and not pretending to be. But I think that feeling and expressing some concern over a fellow Jew is the least I can do for them.

    Also, she had recently undergone a traumatic experience, so there is reason for concern here. According to the “Yesod v’Shoresh HaAvoda” when you feel someone’s pain, you actually lessen their pain (and the Shechina’s as well, since the Shechina “suffers” whenever a person suffers), so by feeling concern for someone, you are actually helping them.

    Maybe busy with college stuff. Exams. Studying for midterms. Projects. Group projects. Homework. Commuting. Time off to recuperate from CR burnout. Focusing on building connections beyond the screen. Hopefully taking care of herself and receiving the blessings you LU and the rest of CR are sending her <3

    Those were my thoughts. However, I think that she may have used more than one writing style on occasion. That is why I thought it could be a possibility.

    I’m not sure, but I think it might only be a problem if it’s at the same time, but I may be wrong.

    Also, there seemed to be some implication from a Moderator at some point that if you discuss it with them and explain the reason, they may allow it.

    But, again, don’t take my word for it.

    What is an IP address? Does that have to do with the computer you are using? That isn’t necessarily proof because two people can use the same computer, and one person can use 2 computers.

    I saw an old thread on this topic – discussing how the moderators can know if the same person is using more than one user name. There was some discussion regarding the fact that if 2 people are both using Yeshivanet, then they could have the same IP address, and the moderators might think they are the same person even thought they are not. I didn’t quite follow all the techinicalities of the discussion.

    I did notice that at some point, someone thought I was Sparkly. I thought that was a little strange! I would have to be both a really good actress and really bored to be able to pull that one off!

    From the old discussions I saw on this topic, it sounds like the moderators can’t tell for sure, but they have ways of guessing

    Having tried to interact with her constructively, I concluded that she is a well intentioned person who could use some maturity and guidance. What she seems to have sought here was affirmation and confirmation of her perspectives and support regarding her insecurities. I do not recall seeing her take up any of the many constructive and purposeful suggestions that were made to her by several posters.

    As is often the case, when someone doesn’t get what they want they leave and look for it elsewhere.

    In any case I wish her hatzlocho in whatever endeavour and derech she chooses and that she gets (and listens to) the guidance that she needs.

    Yes HGG, that is what we are talking about. But the moderators probably know best. And Meno has a point – that was my hesitation as well.

    Yichusdik – I know it seemed that way, but I don’t think that it was completely the case. I had the impression that she was “mekabel” to a large extent (or at least to the extent that she was able to)

    LU, you seem like a very caring kind person. But it doesn’t make much sense getting attached, or feeling as if you have a personal relationship with people you meet in the CR, or anywhere online.

    I’m sure you realize that Sparkly could have been two bored yeshiva guys who have found something else to waste their time with… Or a similarly bored 9th grade girl having some fun and now moving on to other amusements… Or any number of possibilities.

    Golfer – as I pointed out above, Yidden are supposed to care about and feel an attachment to all other Yidden.

    No, I am not falling apart over this, and I have not spent much time thinking about her (although if I were a better person, perhaps I would be), but taking a moment to express concern for a fellow Jew is appropriate and the least I can do.

    And there definitely was what to be concerned about there.

    I really am curious though to know if she makes it thru her courses and actually becomes a pharmacist.

    maybe she will peek in here at some future point and update us (assuming the rest of us are still around)

    All she has to do us use H”H and we will know it is her- it’s sort of her personal signature or fingerprint!

    Princess Cape – I think the main thing was the name. She used to go by the name Princess, so as soon as I saw the name “princess”, I thought of her. And then when I read the content, it also fit. That is probably what others were thinking as well.
