I am looking into buying a Keurig. I have been reading reviews on it and it seems, some have issues with the pumps. So I am asking, my fellow CR members, if anyone has a Keurig, how long have they had it for and which model will be the best to purchase? I also, how a question, about the My K cup, in which you can fill your own coffee with. Any help, would be appreciated.

Pros are that it’s convenient and quick.
Cons are that it’s expensive to buy the K cups, the K cups are pretty bad coffee, and that it’s quick. The brewing process is better if it takes time, not when water is forced through a hole in 30 seconds, so a drip brewer does a better job. Also, the biggest cup you can make is about 8 oz, more than that and it’s too watery.
The My K cup lets you put your own coffee in, so the expense is not a issue. But it is a pain in the neck to clean, and it doesn’t produce a decent brew. Also, you can’t put in more than 1.5 tbsp of coffee at a time or you will get a mess. So 1 small cup (8 oz) at a time, then you have to clean it before you can run it again.

The keurigs looks cool. I was thinking about the Keurig commercial brew, that they have in Staples, It got good reviews but apparently, the My K cup, can not be used with this model. I was thinking of getting a keurig where I can use my own coffee, so it would be cheaper, then continually have to buy the expensive k cups.

November 20, 2011 5:25 am at 5:25 am #928494squeakParticipantYou could have mine, gladly. Everyone thinks it’s great, and maybe it is for certain purposes (and you are willing to buy K cups). But it just doesn’t make quality coffee.
If they could come up with a cheap disposable filter that would work, maybe the convenience factor would win out over the lousy brew. But they don’t have that option.
November 20, 2011 2:00 pm at 2:00 pm #928495UnderstandMemberI have the B140, the commercial one for over a year. Use it in the office, Still working great. Not all coffee is good in it and it does cost alot for the k-cups. But its quick and does the job.

February 11, 2013 4:24 am at 4:24 am #928498zfa32937MemberThe Keurig is an excellent coffee maker. Besides the selection of K-cups they also have really good technology within them. There are a lot of different models and choosing the right one really depends on how you are going to use it. The main difference between them is the different brew sizes they offer and the size of the water reservoir. You can check out this link for more helpful information:
No links, sorry.

Squeak, I often have coffee from a commercial Keurig, and I enjoy it. Are the commercial machines better, or do I have lousy taste?
