Trump is clearly not an anti-Semite. Not only that, but he has clearly denounced all of the various anti-Semites that (quite enthusiastically) support him.
However, the launching of Trump’s Nationalist-Populist movement has both energized and popularized the “White Nationalism” movement of the “Alt-Right”, which is essentially just a repackaging of the ideology of the KKK and the Nazis. This “White Nationalism” has gone from being a fringe, marginalized movement to being a visible force with an increasing amount of adherents and influence. This is, to put it mildly, not something that we should be excited about…August 16, 2017 1:19 am at 1:19 am #1339811
Middle of watching a truly disturbing video from RealClearPolitics about the White Nationalist/Supremacist incident… Quite scary to see so many angry & armed people marching to chants of “Jews will not replace us”, the Nazi chant “Blood and soil”,
One particularly remarkable quote from the scumbag who arranged this thing: “I have a pistol, I go to the gym, to become more capable of violence. I hope somebody even more capable come along, somebody like Donald Trump, but who doesn’t give his daughter to a Jew” (I really can’t do justice to the malice and disgust that his tone conveyed – you have to watch the video to really get a feel for it).
Other quotes from the riot include: “this city is run by Jewish communists and other criminals”, from a guy wearing Daily Stormer (neo-nazi website) t-shirt.
Thank hen there’s a couple of shots of bloodied bodies laying on the street following the White Nationalist/Supremacist terrorist attack.
All followed by Trump saying that he condemns violence “on both sides”…
Remember, never say “it can’t happen here…”
Truly sobering.August 16, 2017 1:59 am at 1:59 am #1339882Avi KParticipant
Trump is right. America is becoming polarized (see Antifa and the Alt-Right, Growing in Opposition to One Another in National Review – with antisemitism featured prominently on both sides (besides the BDS movement and its emphasis on “liberation politics”, the BLM movement has conflated antisemitism into its victimhood message, as has the toeva movement.
In fact, this is what characterized Germany at the end of the Weimer Republic period with frequent street battles between Nazis and Communists. On the other hand, I did hear that there is a tradition going back to Rav Chaim of Volozhin that Jews will never be persecuted as Jews in America. If America did not go fascist eighty years ago when all of the conditions were right it probably never will. Einstein, in fact, said this in response to Gödel’s assertion that the Constitution could be so interpreted.August 16, 2017 8:07 am at 8:07 am #1339928

I find that very difficult to believe. Where’d you hear that?August 16, 2017 10:35 am at 10:35 am #1340037akupermaParticipant
They are not a serious threat. They should be seen as similar to the “flat earth” society. The American right has long been well intgegratged with non-white and Jews. In the southern states, one finds African Americans being elected with support from the “old stock” (meaning descendants of the Civil War losers) whites. The conservative Christian groups are ethnically and racially integrated.
The left wing media need something to justify that far left’s violent activities so they are focusing on a miniscule group of nut cases. The left wing radicals, who are also very anti-semitic, are much more of a threat since they have broad support from the mainstream media.
If anyone is going to chase us out of America, it won’t be the “white nationalists”.August 16, 2017 10:36 am at 10:36 am #1340036YisroelbtachbashemParticipant
I heard that Rav Chaim volozhin (who passed away in 1821) said that America will be “the last station” for the yidden before Mashiach. This was when the Jewish population in the new world was tiny. Only 60 years after his petira did the major influx of mostly Polish-Russian Yidden start. (2,000,000 came in the next 30-35 years, to escape the terrible decrees of the Tzar (there was no Poland at the time. . Unfortunately many went to communist/socialist ideas (I think from aa misconstrued thoughts about ideal personal Chessed as opposed to government as well as from desperation after years of tzarist decrees) which caused a backlash and caused the immigration quotas which closed the doors to “Russians” [code for Jews] in the 20s. As well as the total callous regard of FDR for the Jews of Europe and the “Red Alert” of Joe McCarthy in 1952. These things are remembered and promoted by neonazis, especially since many clearly left wing Jewish groups promote rampant immigration. Etc, etc.August 16, 2017 12:29 pm at 12:29 pm #1340421Avram in MDParticipant

Say that to the fact of any Jew who has been the victim of an anti-Semitic attack. And yes, anti-Semites dwell on the far left as well as the far right. Doesn’t mean white supremacists are not a threat.

Maybe if flat-earthers were demonstrating with torches with chants of expulsion to the round-earthers.

This is so head-scratchingly wrong that I wonder if you have ever been to the South before.August 16, 2017 12:44 pm at 12:44 pm #1340483HealthParticipant

Don’t believe the Leftist media!
The real threat to Frum Jews is from the left!
Eg. – amnesty for illegals, sanctuary cities, abortion on demand, gay rights & marriage, inner city crime, etc.August 16, 2017 1:06 pm at 1:06 pm #1340610👑RebYidd23Participant
There are plenty of threats on both sides and in the middle.
