It feels like its going to happen and what better time then on Purim
February 13, 2012 3:59 pm at 3:59 pm #851328Raphael KaufmanMemberIt seems to me that the ones most eager for Israel or the U.S. to go out and whup Iran are the ones who don’t actually have to go out and do the whuppin’.
February 13, 2012 4:34 pm at 4:34 pm #851329I wonder whether the Iranians thought of that as well and will actually raise their level of alertness just another tiny little bit on Purim.
Would be funny, really. 🙂
February 13, 2012 5:38 pm at 5:38 pm #851330BTGuyParticipantI would do it!
February 13, 2012 5:38 pm at 5:38 pm #851331MDGParticipantI prefer that Hashem makes them implode (or explode) on Purim. Hashem Yilahem Lachem v’Atah Taharishun
February 13, 2012 6:56 pm at 6:56 pm #851332BaalHaboozeParticipantwhere is Shushan? was it in Iran? If so, that would be soooo good!
February 13, 2012 6:57 pm at 6:57 pm #851333yichusdikParticipant‘Wouldn’t it be great?’ no, not really. It might be necessary, and if so it should be done, but great? Lot’s of Hashem’s creations will die, lots of Jews in E’Y would be under attack, lots of chayalim would be in combat.
War isn’t a game. fighting and killing is an unfortunate necessity, and defending Jews is now a possibility, when it wasn’t for too many generations, but please, it isn’t something to be contemplated like a Purim spiel.
February 13, 2012 7:06 pm at 7:06 pm #851334☕️coffee addictParticipantIf that does happen and moshiach comes because of that are you going to be ready?,
War is never great
February 13, 2012 7:33 pm at 7:33 pm #851335sam4321Participantyes it was in Iran,Shushan or Susa (now called Shush)

correct – thats why I made the statement
February 13, 2012 8:33 pm at 8:33 pm #851337akupermaParticipantIt will be exciting. We nukes a few of their cities. They nuke a few of our’s (remember, the Pakis have lots of nukes). Maybe someone can release some “improved” versions of Variola or Yersinia pestis – it will be just like the good old days. Maybe we can have a world wide pogrom by and against Muslims and Jews. Oh for joy.
Maybe we can have some good old fashioned ???? ?????.
Or maybe the matter can be dealt with without starting a massive war.

February 13, 2012 9:41 pm at 9:41 pm #851339dash™ParticipantUsually the moon phase is taken into account in determining when to attack.
February 13, 2012 10:16 pm at 10:16 pm #851340bptParticipantIt’ll be great, if we can wipe them out on the 1st volley. If not, it might not be so great.
I’d rather see this handled without a war. Y’know, like some internal revolution? Or a sudden computer shutdown?
That way, we get our problem solved without any collateral damage.

February 14, 2012 4:37 am at 4:37 am #851342oomisParticipantWar is terrible. But if they were forced to take such a drastic action, it would be more in keeping with the Megillah if they did it the day before Purim.
February 14, 2012 4:59 am at 4:59 am #851343RABBAIMParticipantWhy would someone think positively of war when we can and should daven to forestall the possibility and win a bloodless war?
February 14, 2012 5:57 am at 5:57 am #851344Avi KParticipantStalin ym”s suffered a stroke on Purim (and died four days later) after having all but signed an order to exile all of the Jews to Siberia and do away with them.
There is an also an interesting story regarding the Nuremberg trials. In the parasha of the aseret bnei Haman (after Esther asks “the king” on today and tomorrow) there are three letters written very small:?, ? and ?. In ??? twelve Nazi war criminals ym”s were sentenced to hang (despite the fact that military executions were usually by firing squad). One, the efffeminate Hermann Goerring ym”s committed suicide in his cell (= Haman’s daughter?) and the other Martin Bormann ym”s was not present (unknown to them at the time he had also committed suicide in the bunker). When Julius Steicher ym”s mounted the gallows his last words were “today is Purim” although actually it was Heshvan.

He actually called out Purim Fest, and no one could understand why, as you are right, it was not Purim time. The inyan with the small letters that gave us the Jewish year, is an amazing bit of Hashgocha Protis.
February 14, 2012 3:07 pm at 3:07 pm #851346wanderingchanaParticipantWhat would be the most fun to watch would be Stuxnet Part II. Suddenly someone realizes there is smoke seeping out from underground as their facilities have been decimated by computer programs while at the same time the programs made it look like everything was fine…
February 14, 2012 3:17 pm at 3:17 pm #851347Avi KParticipantoomis, if you want to be technical, he said “Purim-Fest 1946” (in German obviously).
February 14, 2012 3:43 pm at 3:43 pm #851348akupermaParticipantoomis1105 (et al.) – The assumption is that Streicher understood that the highlight of Purim was the mass hanging of the enemies of the Jewish people (remember it was all the leading war criminals being executed at the same time in 1946). He might have made the connection that the Jewish people had no (direct, this worldly) influence on the trials or executions (carried out by Ahasuerus and the Allies, quite of their own volition).

No doubt you are right. It just was such an odd thing to say of ALL the things he could say at that moment. How many Goyim do you think really know or care about Purim?
