    IMHO the praise for Yiddish is, to put mildly, a post-hoc rationalization for old-country nostalgia. If preserving our ‘mama-loshen’ were so important, why didn’t our forefathers think so? If they did, we’d be fighting today over whether to speak Aramaic or English in America.
