invei hagafen deals with older singles and has a referal service to another shidduch organization affiliated with chai lifeline for people with medical/genetic issues.

for m/o sfardim who are into the computer there is a service called sephardic link. it’s nothing like j date you put your resume on line then it is reviewed by a panel of shadchanim and rabbis and then they search their database for a potential match, and then it works like a standard shiduch. you get a call, you ask some questions, agree to meet, etc..

Dearest Teenager: My heart it breaking for you and your pain, I admire your courage to be open about your situation even in an anonymous place like the cr. I do hope that you are in therapy, if not…I’m sure we can find a place for you that is free as well as anonymous. I know that day to day life must be hard for you but…I feel like for someone in your matzav..think of yourself like your whole life is just 24 hours long. when you wake up in the morning you are a new person with a new life…..(sounds silly but not really it’s just a coping tactic) From your posts i can see that you are not public with your family about what happened to you and I feel for you…believe me I know what it’s like to no be able to talk to the people you are closest (or would like to be) with….for whatever reason it may be, I’m sure yours is good, for you, for now…. have you ever considered rachels place, it would mean that you would need to go public on some level but there are other girls there like yourself. Just something to think about…for when you are ready. Till then I wish you only bracha and hatzlachah and please know that you are in our prayers. Hashem has his reasons and although we can’t understand them we have to live with the fallout of some of his descisions, know that we are here and will do what we can to help you make some sense of it all. You have your whoel life ahead of you…so let’s make it a great one. Good Shabbo

I personally know the girl that this happened to…she was in a taxi and the driver started to talk to her he mentioned he was from iran. he saw she was dark skinned (sfardi) and assumed she was arab. they spoke. as they were talking he was openly anti america/ semitic etc…she plugged in info from his medalion on to her blackberry. when she arrived at her destination she gave he a nice tip and he told her you seem nice stay out of nyc on january 7th. she then took down his plate number and cabbie company and called the fbi. so…it’s true but it could be he wanted to scare her. in these situations better to err on the side of caution. lets just pray for the best here and in e’y shavua tov.

applying for a 1st credit card with no previous line of credit does not effect a line of credit that does not exist…yet.

also…..a lot of credit cards are canceling cards that havent been used in a while so if you owe money and they cancel a card on you it effets your credit to debt ratio and lowers your credit score and u didnt do anything wrong!!

attn. all singles on this thread… I wish you all bracha and hatzlacha that hashem should find you all your zivug bemehayrah. then maybe a thread can stay on topic and not go from vacation plans to shiduchim.

chas ve shalom that you should take this negatively….i feel for you all and am aware of what is going on out there and how hard and sometimes crazy it can be/seem. just hang in there.
