Haleivi-ofcourse a potch has what to do with hurting! If your 2yr old son runs into the road and you just tap him he will not get that he did anything wrong-a potch means a potch.

Potching when done at the correct time is part of chinuch. Many people today are against it-but at times its just got to be done(when you have no more options left).

I think that when a rebbi potches(wich is done in front of a full class)makes the kid feel real bad! unless the kid has done somthing crazy I dont think the rebbi should potch.helpful- rebbeim dont love the kids these days like their parents do.(and the kids know it)

I think a parent can potch when needed but a rebbi doesnt do it out of 100% love. These days there are still MANY rebbeim that do potch.I think a kid wouldnt forgive his rebbe for a potch but will thank his parents.

There is a well known story: there was a small boy who refused to go off one of those rides(that you pay .25 for) everyone came to get him off but nothing worked-an old man passed by and asked what was going on, they told him and he said I will get him off,the mother said I dont want you to touch my kid-so he said I o.k im not going to.-the old man said somthing into the boys ear and the boy jumped off! when they asked the old man what he told the boy, he said I told him that if you dont get off ill give you a good potch:-)

I was walking on a street in lakewood when I saw two small boys run into the street-one father took his son and gave him a good potch while the other just ignored it-when it came to the next street the boy who got the potch waited for his father while the other ran into the gutter again.
