I took Kapusta at her word

“I said I was finished with this conversation here and bli neder, after this post I will be.”

So figured no use explaining to her the facts.

I’m happy to continue step by step to establish the Age Gap idea, but Kapusta seems to have run off in the middle of step two.

Kaptusa, I’m happy to continue but not if you are “finished with this conversation here and bli neder, after this post I will be.”

    Kapusta:

“GIR, I agree that younger classes are likely larger than older classes, but again, I’m not sure how that determines numbers of singles today.”

    Well done.

We can now move one, in time you’ll decide if what I’m presenting determines the original observation I made regarding the number of “older” singles today. But lets not jump ahead of ourselves.

Next step: following the same train of thought, that the younger classes are far larger than the older classes,

    So to

    Do you agree with that

there are more 19 year olds (boys and girls)- lets call that 12th grade plus 2)

than their are 23 year olds (boys and girls) (lets call that 12th grade plus 5)

    Agree or disagree?

    Please advise.

(for this stage it is not relevant whether these 19 and 23 year olds are single or married. The point simply is that the total number of 19 year olds far exceeds the total number of 23 year olds)

    Joseph:

I’ll let Kapusta speak for herself.

when we get clarity we can go to the next step.

    Kapusta,

    please answer

Agree or disagree to the point I made earlier, and then we can discuss further. You have no idea what my next step is.

Lets do this one step at a time.

So far I simply stated that fact that their are more children (boys and girls) in younger grades than their are (boys and girls) in the older grades. And it seems like no one disagrees with that.

(there are school studies which show this to be evident).

If there is agreement on this issue, I will go to the next step.

    if there isn’t then I won’t.

I haven’t even begun to discuss proposed solutions, nor have I explained age gap, I am simply asking Kapusta to either agree or disagree with my statement of fact regarding class sizes/school enrollments.

    Kapusta

    Agree or disagree

    Please advise

Oh well, I tried in my previous post… guess it got lost.

If the people questioning the validity of Age Gap would like to weigh in on points #2 and #3 in my previous post we can then continue the discussion.

Here they are again to save you the trouble of scrolling up

    2. Is there agreement on the following fact:

The number of boys in Orthodox Jewish Schools in North America in 1st grade is far greater than the # of boys in 4th grade. In a similar vein, the number of boys in in North America in Orthodox Jewish HS in 9th grade is far greater than the # of boys in 12th grade.

    3. Is there agreement on the following fact:

The number of girls in Orthodox Jewish schools in North America in 1st grade is far greater than the # of girls in 4th grade. In a similar vein, the number of girls in North America in Orthodox Jewish HS in 9th grade is far greater than the # of girls in 12th grade.

    Lets try this……

    1. Is their agreement on the following anecdotal observation:

The number of young women who have dated 5-10 years and are still single is far far greater than the number of young men who have dated 5-10 years and are still single.

(If you agree with this observation than you are agreeing with the definition of the “shidduch crisis” not necessarily the cause, simply it’s existence. And we can proceed to see if Age Gap exists and is the cause for this result.

If you deny this self evident observation than no use pursuing discussion of age gap since you don’t recognize the existence of the shidduch crisis in the first place)

The following assumes agreement to the above point:

    2. Is their agreement on the following fact:

The number of boys in Orthodox Jewish Schools in North America in 1st grade is far greater than the # of boys in 4th grade. In a similar vein, the number of boys in in North America in Orthodox Jewish HS in 9th grade is far greater than the # of boys in 12th grade.

    3. Is their agreement on the following fact:

The number of girls in Orthodox Jewish schools in North America in 1st grade is far greater than the # of girls in 4th grade. In a similar vein, the number of girls in North America in Orthodox Jewish HS in 9th grade is far greater than the # of girls in 12th grade.

Perhaps a little clarification would help.

That is precisely what would be expected if the birth ratio of male to female is not 50/50. and since each year there are more males born than females, therefore at each SAME grade level there will be more boys than girls

    2. “Seriously though when you read the report and see the astronomic Yeshiva & Chasidic enrollment growth from year to year ka”h”

In other words, the number of males in 12th grade is still woefully insufficient for the number of females in 9th grade

    3. Therefore we have a age gap created Shidduch crisis.

    4. Chassisdim have a reverse (although not as alarming) Shidduch crisis. Being that at the same age, there are more boys than girls, and being that the chassidic boys begin to date at roughly the same age as girls, therefore by the chassidim the girls have plenty of options, and the boys are the ones with difficulty in shidduchim.
