Yes there are a lot of sephardim but I belong to a modern orthodox Ashkenaz shul which is very friendly, warm and welcoming. When we came back from California we moved back to the same community because we loved it so much. Yeshiva at the Jersey Shore is an Ashkenaz yeshiva which is phenomenal.

I would highly recommend the Long Branch Elberon community. It is a modern orthodox community accepting of everyone. Our shul which I proudly belong to is a very warm and welcoming community. We do have young familes who attend our local school Yeshiva at the Jersey Shore. We have kosher food right at your doorstep, restaurants, mikvah and an eruv. Our rabbi is phenomenal. Come check out Brothers of Israel in Elberon. We even have a website.
