Writer Soul: I always add splenda or honey to Norman’s plain greek, it tastes awesome. I don’t like it plain, too sour. I usually add fruit too.

Did anyone try normans light? I’ve only tried their original. Is it worth the money?

I did a mehadrin/normans/chobani taste test, on your dare! In mehadrin vs norman, normans won hands down with taste. Mehadrins flavor are honestly not that great. They taste like jelly ice pops. Norman’s is definetely more authentic on the flavor. In terms of texture, they both are thick and creamy, but mehadrin adds modified food starch to theirs to make it thick, and normans doesn’t (in their original- non 100 calories- greek), so….

Chobani was, as usual, awesome. But I’m pleasantly surpised to find that norman’s is a close second. They really are the chobani of greek. cholov yisroel sonsumers really are not missing out on much (besides maybe additional flavors) by eating normans!

Is that the 80 Lite, or the regular low fat?

Popa: So did you try the mango one? It’s interesting, Chobani actually ran a whole campaign specifically to convince people that the seeds in the pom. were delicious- sales in that flavor had dropped b/c people did not like the texture…

WriterSoul: I can’t eat plain greek as well, too sour…

But I like adding fruits or chocolate chips with splenda or honey. I like it like it like that.

Maybe… I tried mehadrin this morning (coffee) and it tasted funny. Definitely did not enjoy it.

the straining takes out the acid whey. To make it clear, popa, here are the reasons I like greek over regular:

    1. thicker (almost like ice cream)

    2. very filling (from protein)

    3. versatile (I made a salad dressing from greek once!)

None of these points are contestable! :p

    haha

but seriously- greek is NOT the same as regular! i hate regular yogurt and i love greek. It’s not “cool”- it’s really an excellent food.

Greek isn’t the same as regular. It is strained so it has no fat and is very thick. plus I am always barely able to finish one because it is very filling beacause of the protein

I heard that mehadrin puts food starch in their greek, but I haven’t bought it yet so don’t know what the ingredients say. Can anyone confirm?

Do you dislike all yogurt or just greek? It’s funny, I can’t stand any yogurt except Greek, it doesn’t taste like regular yogurt, it’s amlot thicker. Almost like room temperature ice cream.

I thought so too, especially the mehadrin flavors. They have a weird aftertaste. It’s interesting to read the papers every week and see the greek yogurt war going on between them though… have you seen the ads?

I was going 2 ask a question on Greek and then I saw this thread…

What do you think of mehadrin now that it came out?? I tried both (norman’s and mehadrin) and mehadrin had a funny aftertaste to me.

Torah613Torah: So that means that is the book lists Concerta as fine, then my generic version would be fine as well, right? (I live in the US).

The issue is, my generic is ER (extended release. Would you know if this has a different status?

Also, I’ve heard before that Ritalin contains outright chometz, regardless of manufacturer. Can anyone back this up?

    Yeshivaguy45:

Does it specify if the Methylphenidate tablets made by Malinckrodt are regular or ER?

And does it say anything about Methyphenadate ER made by Watson?

    Talmud: The company name is:

Methylphenadate ER TAB made by Watson Labs (generic Concerta extended release)

Methylphenadate HC TAB made by Mallinnkro (MAL) (generic Ritalin)

I don’t have brand name Concerta, but the generic is basically the same thing.

Thanks everyone for your help. Does anyone know where I can download R’ Bess’s list?

I called my pharmacy (owned by frum yidden) and they said they were told by R’ Blumenkrantz (or his sons) none of their medications were chometz. However, these specific prescriptions were not filled by this pharmacy, but by Rite Aid…

The codes on my prescriptions are:

    Methylphenidate ER TAB- Watson

    Methyphenidate HC TAB- MAL

I’m hesitant to rely on a heter.

    Where can I download R’ Bess’s list?

My Methylphenadate HC TABS are made by MAL,but they are NOT ER.

And my Methylphenadate ER TABS are NOT made by TEV.

Still unsure on both, especially since brand name Concerta (OMJ) is listed as kosher for pesach, and my pharmacy told me that the generic and the brand name contain the same ingredients. However my generic Concerta is made by Watson, not OMJ.

Has anyone else been using these medications, and if so have you recieved a clear answer on their status?
