I am familiar with the publication. (There is a dot under the ‘H’ to make it pronounced Chakirah).

It is a somewhat off-the-books Orthodox – Mo-orthodox magazine, since they welcome views from all over the spectrum, including very left-wing. Their purpose of this is to add innuendo to the letters to the editor, which many a time make a most interesting reading. Having said this, many articles are head-on in concurrence with the Yeshiva Oilam. Rav Hershel Shacter shlit”a writes an article in one volume destroying conservadox practices.

On the other hand, most contraversial is an article from Rabbi Natan Slifkin attempting to prove that Rashi was a corporealist.

I would ask my rav before visually placing the book on my bookshelf.

A23, Thanks for the info. I always saw ads for Dirshu, but didn’t know exactly what they were about. I’m seriously considering the next daf test. -so thanx a lot!

Dear Rabbiofberlin: The very fact that your post appears extolls the virtue of this blog, and undermines your premise of censorship

A23, Is the Dirshu Test pass or fail, or do you have to do really well to make it, and how much is the reward for the Gemara Rashi test?

to musictomyears- i think that’s great; it should be familty duets, avraham fried&benny, and the shwekeys, the wedygers, – but on second thought it may be too much ayin hara

To goody613, why doesn’t mbd do hasc anymore? for real or just talk?

also why all of the sudden “duets” – didn’t hasc have duets already in some form or another – fried&lipa last year, fried&Helfgot… isn’t four better than two?

it would also be nice if they actually prepare for duets- it would sound so much nicer than onthespot stand-up-singing together like every other year.

also an observtn- it seems that while some old singers’ voices go down, Avraham Frieds gets better. i like that extra crack of high pitch in fried’s voice when he goes high which is new. Only shwekey and fried have it.
