BREAKING UPDATE: Niftarim To Be Flown To Eretz Yisroel – Embassy Strike Placed On Hold

Thanks to the hard work by multiple activists including Zvi Gluck of Amudim, Rabbi Jack Meyer of Misaskim and many others working behind the scenes, there has been a decision to place the strike at all Israeli Embassies around the world on hold for one day. Niftarim awaiting a permit to be flown to Eretz Yisroel for burial will now be authorized.

The decision to place the strike on hold was made directly because of public pressure – specifically due to the YWN article yesterday which brought this travesty to the public, and caused much pressure in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In fact, the link to the YWN article was being emailed around by every employee at the Ministry, and took much heat for this Chillul Ha’mes.

YWN has been told that all Niftarim are currently awaiting a stamp by the Israeli Embassy in NY to be allowed to fly to Israel for Kevura. This will be processed shortly as the strike has been placed on a one day hold.

The following video is Zvi Gluck of Amudim being interviewed on Israeli TV (in English) earlier today.

  1. Does a request by a nifter override an instance like this where it may postpone buriel within a reasonable amount of time after death?
