The Lakewood Police Department is asking that residents not flood the police emergency lines with non urgent calls in the event Irene hits Lakewood. �Do not call police with weather related � non-emergency -questions�, Police Captain Gregory Meyer says. �Someone may need us won�t be able to get through�.
During the earthquake earlier this week, police lines were flooded with non-emergency calls, causing the lines to be jammed with many callers unable to get through to police.
The Captain reiterated that residents should remain home and keep off the roads.
