Judge-Drawn Congressional Lines Likely To Hold, Eliminating Turner’s District

The congressional election districts lines for New York wont be final until March 20, but the lines drawn by a federal judge appear likely to be the final plan.

The congressional campaigns of incumbents and challengers are already making decisions on the upcoming elections and a scheduled June 26 primary based on the March 6 lines drawn by U.S. Magistrate Roanne Mann.

The state Senates Republican majority and the Assemblys Democratic majority which could change the lines have no serious objections.

The judges lines would eliminate the Hudson Valleys current 22nd District represented by Democratic Rep. Maurice Hinchey, who is retiring. She also proposes to eliminate Republican Rep. Bob Turners 9th District in Queens and Brooklyn.
