The New York City Police Department today announced street closings and an advisory regarding the parade and ceremony for the New York Giants’ Super Bowl victory. The parade is scheduled for Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 11 a.m. on lower Broadway and will be followed by the ceremony outside of City Hall at 1 p.m. Heavy congestion is anticipated throughout the day and motorists are strongly urged to avoid lower Manhattan.
Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel users should expect delays in Lower Manhattan on Tuesday morning until early afternoon.
Beginning at 7:00 a.m. streets in the vicinity of the parade formation area will be closed to prepare for the parade. These streets include Battery Place from Thames Street to Little West Street. Other street closures around Battery Park will include Battery Place between Broadway and West Streets and Greenwich Street north of Battery Place. On the east side of Battery Park, State Street will also be closed down to Water Street. Also beginning at 7:00 a.m., streets in the area of City Hall will start to be closed. These streets include Chambers Street from Church to Centre Streets and Park Row from Broadway to Centre Street.
Starting at 8:00 a.m., the parade route on Broadway from Battery Park to Worth Street will be closed. Additionally, other streets in the area may be closed as needed. Businesses in lower Manhattan should plan accordingly, including rescheduling deliveries. Parking will be prohibited on Broadway and surrounding streets beginning Monday evening.
Spectators are advised to use public transportation, to arrive early and to expect delays because of increased volume on trains and buses. They should also check with transportation agencies for announcements regarding their planned route. The following advisory was issued by New York City Transit and should be noted:
“Although the Lexington Avenue line serves the Brooklyn Bridge – City Hall, Fulton Street – Broadway Nassau, Wall Street, and Bowling Green stations, Giants fans are urged to avoid the 4 5 6 lines due to normal weekday rush hour crowding along the corridor.
“Instead, fans are urged to use the 1 line or the R or W lines to Rector Street, or the E to World Trade Center. Fans should also consider taking the A C 2 or 3 lines to Chambers Street or 2 3 to Wall Street, and the J to the Broad Street station. Crowding conditions at the City Hall R and W station, Park Place 2 and 3 station and nearby 4 5 6 Brooklyn Bridge – City Hall station may force trains to bypass those stations during the parade and ceremony at City Hall. All lines affected will be monitored by supervision to ensure smooth operation.”
Viewing areas will be set up on the eastside and westside of Broadway along the entire parade route, Broadway from Battery Park to Chambers Street. In addition, a viewing area will be established on the east side of Park Place opposite City Hall Park.
The Department will establish pedestrian crossings at the following intersections on Broadway:
·Reade Street
·Fulton Street
·Cortlandt Street/ Maiden Lane
·Cedar Street
·Rector Street (Westbound pedestrians only)
·Wall Street (Westbound pedestrians only)
·Exchange Alley (Eastbound pedestrians only)
Additional pedestrian crossings will be established at the following locations:
·Battery Place and West Street (Eastbound pedestrians only)
·Lafayette and Reade Streets

Baruch H-shem its finally over and now to clean up the mess all over dwntwn Manhattan, the sanitation workers will be getting big overtime $$$$ paid for by our hard earned tax dollars.
However lets be thankful & not forget that “organized sports” (for the B’nei Noach only of course) is a big chesed from H-shem. Lets not forget what the B’nei Noach used to do with their spare time prior to the existance of such distractions.
