3:40PM EST: Building Collapse / Metro North Service Suspended

Rescue3FDNY.jpgCBS2 reports that the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven Line train service has been temporarily suspended into and out of Grand Central Terminal because of a partial building collapse at 102 East 124th Street near Park Avenue.

FDNY reports that they have a major collapse of a vacant 5 story building. Apparently, FDNY has been operating on the scene for quite some time (since 12:30PM EST), and this has been the second collapse of the day at this address so far. The earlier collapse was just facade falling, and large cracks appearing on the building. MTA had ordered trains to proceed on a slower speed since the initial FDNY response, but have now cancelled the train traffic. It is unknown exactly how much of the structure collapsed at this time.

NYPD has called for a Level 1 Mobilization Response.

UPDATE 5:30PM EST: All train service has been restored.
