TRAFFIC NIGHTMARE: Snow Storm Causes GRIDLOCK Across Tri-State Area [EPIC VIDEO ROUNDUP]

As snow moved into the Tri-State just ahead of the evening commute, traffic problems were mounting across the area.

At least two inches of snow were reported by 4 p.m. in Brooklyn. Parts of New York City could see 3-5 inches. Areas in New Jersey were expected to get more, and parts of Long Island were expecting 1-3 inches.

The city’s Sanitation Department said workers have been making sure equipment is ready, all routes are covered and new technology that was added to trucks is working properly.

The MTA said all New York City buses were getting chains on their tires and they were taking articulated buses off the streets. The MTA reported delays on all Bronx and Brooklyn bus lines.

  • BRIDGES, TUNNELS AND ROADS
The upper level of the George Washington Bridge is closed. There is no access to the bridge from the Palisades Interstate Parkway. Travelers are strongly urged to avoid the bridge.
  • Holland Tunnel to New Jersey is experiencing delays of up to 30 minutes.
  • Bayonne Bridge is closed in both directions in Staten Island.
  • Lincoln Tunnel is experiencing delays in both directions due to weather conditions on NJ-495.
  • Stretches of the Garden State Parkway, I-280, I-78, RT-10 and RT-130 are closed. Palisades Parkway is at a complete stop in Tappan.
  • All westbound lanes of the Gowanus Expressway at the Belt Parkway split in Brooklyn were blocked due to a disabled tractor trailer as of 4:30 p.m.

The local airports are also experiencing delays. JFK and Newark reported delays of 3 hours or more while LaGuardia reported delays of over an hour.

Roadways in Rockland County are treacherous Thursday afternoon, as the winter storm tears through the Tri-State area. There are numerous car accidents reported in the Monsey area, as well as in Kirya Joel in nearby Orange County.

Monsey Hatzolah sent the following message out:

Hatzoloh of Rockland Severe Weather Alert: Roads are extremely treacherous, unless urgent please stay home and don’t drive, numerous road closures due to vehicles stuck on local roadways.

Chaveirim of Rockland also released a message:

In Kiryas Joel, there were multiple accidents as well, and there was a large pileup on the George Washington Bridge.

Due to overcrowding at Port Authority Bus Terminal, the second and third levels have been closed. They will reopen when conditions improve, but until then, the building was closed to anyone who wasn’t already inside.

  1. The salt trucks are nowhere to be found! The taxes are crazy high and you don’t get anything for it! But the city people are still coming and buying house above value

  2. Flights to Israel, which were supposed to arrive Friday afternoon, now shan’t make it before Shabbos R’L:- No-doubt the next item upcoming on YWN.

  3. Spring Valley used to have their roads cleaned. But now apparently, despite rising taxes, there’s no money for snow-plowing because the mayor decided so. One wonders where all money from the incredibly high taxes are going…

But no matter, if the “askonim” will endorse this horrible mayor , the masses will vote him in again.
