Ahead of Vice President Mike Pence’s Latinos for Trump rally in central Florida, state Democrats have paid for a billboard showing an image of the president tossing paper towels at a Puerto Rican church after the island was devastated by Hurricane Maria.

The Florida Democratic Party unveiled the billboard Monday in Kissimmee, a city outside Orlando with a large Puerto Rican population, including many who came to central Florida after the 2017 hurricane.

Above the image of President Donald Trump tossing the paper towels into a crowd, are the words “Prohibido Olvidar,” or “Never Forget” in English. Critics at the time said the president’s tossing of the paper towels showed a lack of sensitivity to the devastation on the island.

Pence is the featured speaker at a Latinos for Trump rally being held in Kissimmee on Thursday. The vice president and his wife also are attending a Keep American Great rally in Tampa that day.

  1. Making fun of Trump is likely to backfire. The Democrats will be making jokes that only they find amusing, and the Republicans will be talking about creating jobs and raising income levels for the lower classes (which has been the impact of restrictive immigration). The Democrats will be snickering and the Republicans boasting about killing terrorists, and giving lethal weapons to Ukraine (the Democrats sent them only non-lethal aid, such as food rations).

  2. Seeing as he’s only just now releasing funds to repair the damage of the hurricane last year, and with conditions attached, I don’t think anyone from Puerto Rico, with relatives there, or any other Latino (with the except of ex-Cubans, who are reliably Republican) is going to forget this, or that Trump himself – the son of one immigrant and the grandson of another – thinks that they’re somehow “not real Americans” because of their immigrant heritage.

    Time for President Pence.

  3. This picture is fake news. What was happening was he was tossing the paper towels to the folks in the back of the line who were maybe not going to get any, and they were laughing and catching them! There is full
Video somewhere. Typical Dems forcing a fake narrative like it’s truth.

  4. So Midwest thinks that the taxpayers’ money should just be thrown at Puerto Rico, as much as they want and with no conditions, so it can all be stolen and those in genuine need won’t get the relief they need. Or maybe throw enough that even after the thieves are through with it there will be enough left over to fix the damage. That is not how an honest government operates. The president has a responsibility to the rest of the country to ensure their money is well administered and not thrown down a rathole of thievery and corruption without adequate monitoring.

  5. Why are the Democrats highlighting a picture of the president personally helping to distribute aid?

Critics at the time said the president’s tossing of the paper towels showed a lack of sensitivity to the devastation on the island

How so? What should he have done instead? Gravely picked up each roll of towels and handed it to the people at the front of the line?!
