MORE TRUMP DRAMA: Trump Bars VP Pence’s Chief Of Staff From White House

Vice President Mike Pence’s chief of staff, Marc Short, was barred from the White House on Wednesday after President Donald Trump criticized Pence for refusing to attempt to overturn the election, Bloomberg journalists first reported.

Short said Trump barred him from the grounds because the president was “blaming” him for advice he gave to Pence, according to the RealClearPolitics reporter Philip Wegmann.

Pence announced on Wednesday that he was not empowered by the Constitution to overturn the results of the 2020 election, and despite intense pressure from Trump, he fulfilled his constitutional duties and certified the election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

  1. Short probably considers himself fortunate to be able to work remotely for his lat 10 days on the job. I’m not a big fan of his policy position but he is n outstanding professional and one of the most respected advocates for most of Trump’s policies. His advice to Pence was the ONLY advice possible and shared by 99.9 percent of the legal community other than Crazy Rudy and some nutcases he has enlisted to prolong this circus to raise money on the way out the door.

  2. Pence got some seriously bad legal advice. The VP certifying the electoral votes is not merely pro forma. If the Constitution gives him the task to certify, it also gives him the option of not certifying. Otherwise, there’s no point to the exercise. Yes, it would’ve been without historic precedent, and yes, it would’ve placed the election of a president in the hands of Congress rather than the states’ electors, but the circumstances of this particular election were also without historic precedent. This election, and I use the term here very loosely, should’ve been sent back to the states by Congress for a re-do. Absolutely disgusting.

  3. arizona the constitution does not give the VP any such role. You are referring to the ECA which does not change the basic and clear language of the constitution that whoever has the most votes wins. These stupid interpretations of the constitution or law that led people to thinking the election result could be overturned are in part responsible for the attempted insurrection yesterday.
