PHOTOS: Thousands Pack BMG For Shiur From Hagaon HaRav Dov Landau

The famed Bais Medrash at Beth Medrash Gavoah was overflowing with thousands of Yungerliet on Monday night, who had gathered for the rare opportunity to hear a Shiur from Hagaon HaRav Dov Landau.

The elderly Slabodka Rosh Yeshiva is currently on his first visit to the United States, a historic occasion.

The Rosh Yeshiva is staying at the home of philanthropist Reb Shimon Glick in Monsey, and will be visiting Yeshivas in Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Lakewood and Far Rockaway this week.

On Sunday the Rosh Yeshiva visited Yeshiva Heichal Hatorah, led by its Rosh Yeshiva, Hagaon HaRav Mottel Dick Shlita.

He is scheduled to be at Yeshiva Darchei Torah in Far Rockaway on Tuesday afternoon.

  1. What was the shiur about? Maybe the person who provided the pictures was also listening and can tell us a bit of what he said? Maybe he gave over some chiddushim?

  2. I would also like to hear what was said!

Also, real Kavod Harav – he is the only one who deserved some covid-protective plexiglass…

  3. It is not glass and it is not completely isolating. It protects the Rav from someone directly lobbing a long cough at him, but not from the accumulation of air if ventilation is not done well. There were similar images of R Edelstein speaking in a similar fashion in Panevezh, where it said that only vaccinated Talmidim were allowed. Maybe HaRav presumed that BMG policy is the same?

  4. Asking in all honesty; Who exactly did the Rosh Yeshiva come to be mechazek? The are hundreds of great people in USA why did they shlep him here as opposed to doing a zoom speech?

  5. “why did they shlep him here as opposed to doing a zoom speech?

Perhaps there are more respectful ways to refer to the Rav rather than characterizing him as someone who has no control over his agenda and who gets “shlepped around” and exploited by his gabboim. Presumably, he made the decision to visit these mosdos and acquiesced to the agenda planned for him. Also, I presume that there is greater chizuk for these talmidim to see the rav “live” rather than watching a video on a big screen.
