Nearly 40 House Democrats are arguing that recent social media posts from the Departments of Homeland Security and Labor echo Nazi language.
In a letter sent Wednesday, lawmakers led by Raja Krishnamoorthi urged Kristi Noem and Lori Chavez-DeRemer to conduct an internal review of the posts, which they described as rooted in white nationalist and extremist propaganda.
The controversy centers on messages published following the January shooting of activist Rene Good by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis. According to the lawmakers, U.S. Department of Homeland Security shared an image of a man riding a horse with the caption, Well have our home again, while promoting recruitment for ICE. The phrase, the letter notes, appears in a song linked to far-right groups, including the Proud Boys.
The U.S. Department of Labor also posted, One Homeland. One People. One Heritage. Remember who you are, American language Democrats say closely mirrors the infamous Nazi slogan One People, One Realm, One Leader.
The amplification of extremist-adjacent rhetoric from official government channels corrodes public trust, the lawmakers wrote, warning that silence would signal tolerance for ideologies the United States has fought wars to defeat.
The departments have not yet publicly responded.
