Dozens Of Cops Could Be Charged In Bronx Ticket-Fixing Probe

Charges could be announced in the next few weeks as dozens of police officers and union delegates are being investigated in a wide-ranging ticket-fixing scandal in the Bronx, sources said.

In acknowledging the investigation, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly would say little else except that it is part of police training to emphasize the practice is illegal.

“We expect officers to enforce the law objectively,” Kelly said. “There should be no favoritism at all.”

Most of the allegations involved fixing tickets for family and friends but some officers allegedly made summonses disappear in exchange for gifts and money.

The Daily News reports the allegations were uncovered during an investigation into drug dealing in the Soundview section of the borough.
