SEAL Helmet Cams Recorded Entire Bin Laden Raid

A new picture emerged Thursday of what really happened the night the Navy SEALs swooped in on Osama bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan.

CBS News national security correspondent David Martin reports the 40 minutes it took to kill bin Laden and scoop his archives into garbage bags were all recorded by tiny helmet cameras worn by each of the 25 SEALs.

Officials reviewing those videos are still reconstructing a more accurate version of what happened. We now know that the only firefight took place in the guest house, where one of bin Laden’s couriers opened fire and was quickly gunned down. No one in the main building got off a shot or was even armed, although there were weapons nearby.

The SEALs first saw bin Laden when he came out on the third floor landing. They fired, but missed. He retreated to his bedroom, and the first SEAL through the door grabbed bin Laden’s daughters and pulled them aside.

When the second SEAL entered, bin Laden’s wife rushed forward at him — or perhaps was pushed by bin Laden. The SEAL shoved her aside and shot bin Laden in the chest. A third seal shot him in the head.

  1. Now that they finally figured out what they want us to believe happened, they were stuck with the dilema of how to convince everybody that this latest version is better than the original. So, they came up with this great idea to mention, what we knew about all along, the SEALS helmet video.

  2. Very cynical. Most history is not reported accurately in the first days after the events occurred, but only after all of the information is collected. Think about some of the initial reports you heard on 9/11 which weren’t so accurate.

  3. Why did they shoot him? He wasnt armed and aren’t all suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law?

  4. What happened to bin Laden’s dialysis machine? Did he get a kidney transplant in the last ten years, or did he find a miraculous cure?

@yohudah: They should have brought him to the United States or Gitmo, interrogated him, and given him a Nuremberg trial. We lost a great deal of information and intelligence by assassinating bin Laden.

Killing him was merely a nominal victory. He’s dead – woo-hoo! Interrogating the founder of al-Qaida would have done a lot more, but let’s not forget who’s sitting in the White House. The pal of Jeremiah Wright (“9/11 was America’s chickens coming home to roost) would NEVER permit the interrogation of bin Laden, even though his capture would not have been possible without the interrogation of KSM during the Bush administration).

Execution of an unarmed man in a foreign country without trial – OK. Interrogating him and other Islamic terrorists – a war crime. BHO hypocrisy 101…

And when Israel executes the head of HAMAS, that is a war crime, as well, right? Where are all those Jew-hating low-lifes who condemned Israel for that targeted assassination? Silence speaks for itself.
