Shalit Senior & His Knesset Ambitions

Mr. Noam Shalit, the father of released Hamas prisoner Noam Shalit told Channel 10 TV host Amnon Levy “we too abducted British soldiers when we were fighting for our freedom”.

Shalit, who recently announced he is seeking a slot on the Labor Party primaries for the next Knesset elections made a comparison to Hamas abducting his son and holding him prisoner for five years to the actions of the Irgun during the fighting against the British occupation that preceded Israel’s declaration of statehood in 1948.

When asked if he felt the same way regarding Hamas, Shalit stated “If Hamas changed its ways and recognized Israel’s right to exist, yes”.

When asked why he believes Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu agreed to the prisoner exchange deal that led to his son’s release, he explained “The prime minister saw the polls and realized 80% of the people backed such a deal”.

He added that during his son’s captivity he thought of his twin brother Yoel who was abducted by the Syrians in 1973 and killed during the Yom Kippur War.

  1. Noam Shalit had nothing to show before his son was kidnapped. Now he thinks he somebody. It’s bad enough that he wants to capitalize on the fame (or infamy) he acquired due to his son’s suffering.
But to compare Jews and Israel with Arabs, Hamas, and Fatah, with that he reached a new depth. Israel is the homeland of Jews. The British had no business being in Eretz Israel. That’s why Jews did what it took to send the British packing. The great majority of the Arabs in Eretz Israel came from the surrounding Arab countries looking for work just as the Sudanese are now infiltrating Israel in search for a better life. Arafat for example came from Egypt. The Mishpacha ran an article about the richest and most influential Arab in the Palestinian Authority territories. He said his grand parents came from Saudi Arabia. I heard it from R’ Yisroel Belsky, may he get well, that we are stuck with them unfortunately until Melech HaMashiach comes. The way to deal with Noam Shalit is to punish him at the ballots. If he was a nobody for his son was kidnapped, now he is a liability for all of us.

  2. Do the country a favor and stay up in the Galile working without getting involved in politics. Maybe a job as Prison Warden would work out fine.
