A 74-year-old Jewish male was bludgeoned to death with a hammer in Morocco on Monday evening, 3 Nissan 5772, Israeli media sources report. The victims name is reported to be Binyamin Fredo HYD. The limited information available states the victim was hit over the head with a metallic hammer. At present, it does not appear that the attack is being labeled a hate crime.
The victim was gravely injured and died a short time later in a local hospital. Local media reports from Morocco state the victim worked collecting rent from tenants in stores owned by a Jewish landlord. An investigation is underway and state officials have ordered an autopsy.
Zakas international unit has already made contact with officials in Morocco to make funeral arrangements. The levaya will be held in Morocco.
