Deputy Foreign Minister Hotevely Files A Presidential Pardon For Azariya

Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotevely did not wait for the IDF Court of Appeals to rule in the case of Elor Azariya, but sent a request for a presidential pardon to President Reuven Rivlin on 25 Shevat.

She points out that a matter which was personal, has become a national issue and the young soldier was engulfed in a period of terror attacks and his case touches the hearts of one and all. She explains the case has obviously aroused the feelings of many around the country, as is evident by the national sentiment and there are “calls from the left and right to pardon him”.

She refers President Rivlin to the Number 300 bus affair in 1984 as a precedent setting case.

  1. This is the time to play the Israeli Judicial system the same game they have been playing. Till now the High Court has overturned Governmental decisions whenever it suited their leftist or anti-religious opinions. Let the president now overturn the courts decision and free this brave young man.

  2. Good for her!
Post #1, right on the money. This poor kid should be a celebrated hero, not have a homocide record on his life file. And certainly not another day in prison. I’d be okay if his prison term was to be served in a penthouse in the Waldorf.

  3. Tzippy is a breath of fresh air! Very articulate, passionate and sincere. She speaks her mind intelligently and logically, voicing the sentiments of most Israelis.

  4. This was a stupid trial! It should never have happened.
Elor should never have been tried! He should receive a medal.
The persons that should be tried for criminal negligence are those responsible for not executing these cold blooded murderers, giving them easy prison conditions at the expense of the tax paying victims, and then releasing them to commit more murders.
This trial and the “humane”??!! treatment of terrorists presents a picture of weakness, cowardice and plain stupidity to the world.
    This encourages terrorism.
Our stupid government has the blood of all the terror victims on their hands.
