Maybe its Time to Bring Giuliani to Jerusalem?

rudy2Jerusalem Police officials announced on Sunday 23 Adar 5773 that there was a 9% increase in robberies in Yerushalayim in 2012. Other less than encouraging statistics include a 1.8% increase in the number of criminal cases opened, and a 2.7% increase in property crimes in the capital.

Jerusalem Police Chief Yossi Pariente commented on the political tensions throughout Yehuda, Shomron and the eastern capital ahead of the planned visit by US President Barak Obama. “We are prepared for every eventuality and we are improving operational readiness with each passing year. We take every eventuality into consideration and plan for it.”

  1. The Police Dept should also let every one know this increase how is it devided between the charaidim and the chilonim.

  2. Perhaps the problem is the Jerusalem Metropolitican Area has very distinct communities of Arabs, Hareidim, working class Sefardi Jews and upper class secular Ashkenazi “elites”. To be effective the police need to be respected by all groups, and one might argue that in Jerusalem they are respected by none of them.
