Israel Believes Syria will Not Respond at Present


asadnWithout mentioning attacks in Syria that are attributed to Israel, officials in Jerusalem on Sunday 25 Iyar 5773 stated they do not believe either Syria or Hizbullah will launch attacks against Israeli civilian or military targets at presnet. Officials appear to be in agreement, that both Syria’s Bashar al-Assad and Hizbullah’s Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah are uninterested in entering into a military conflict with Israel at present.

In the interim, wishing to send a message of calm, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Sunday departed for his state visit to China. Some feared the visit would be canceled due to tensions along the northern border. Officials in the Prime Minister’s Office on Sunday explained a two-hour delay in the prime minister’s departure was to permit him to hold another briefing with high-ranking defense and intelligence officials.
