State Senator Eric Adams can now add another first prize to his plate. It’s Eric vs. Adams in the race for Borough Hall. The race for Brooklyn Borough President has become a one man race with State Senator Eric Adams now becoming the presumed Borough President, the Daily News reports.

Supreme Court Justice David Schmidt ruled Thursday to throw John Gangemi off the ballot. The former City Councilman submitted more than 6,000 signatures supporting his bid, but Adams convinced the court and the Board of Elections that more than two-thirds of the petitions were invalid. Judge Schmidt determined that only 1,809 names of the 2000 needed were valid.

“We have found multiple violations of basic election law, and as a result, Mr. Gangemi was properly removed from the ballot,” said Adams’ lawyer Frank Carone. “You can’t allow someone to skirt the rules.”

But Gangemi plans to appeal the court’s decision on Monday, according to his Attorney.

“For a guy who they think has no shot, they are fighting extremely hard to keep us off the ballot,” said John Gangemi’s spokesman, and son, Frank.

This week, Mr. Adams was named the most influential black New Yorker for 2013-2014.
