The Knesset on Monday night, the eve of 2 Kislev 5774, passed the marriage age bill into law. As a result, the minimum marriage age in Israel is now 18 instead of 17.
In line with this new reality, one wishing to marry under the age of 18 must seek court permission. A rav marrying anyone under the age of 18 faces a two-year prison sentence.
Coalition Chairman MK Yariv Levin and MK (Meretz) Zahava Gal-On sponsored the bill which passed in a 55-11 majority.
This represents another piece of legislation from the Likud/Yesh Atid/Bayit Yehudi coalition that attacks the Torah way of life along with the Marriage Registration Law and the bill which hopes to facilitate giyur by opening nationwide giyur centers. Simultaneously, efforts continue to complete the new chareidi draft law, which will compel chareidim to serve in the IDF or a state-approved national service program.

1. The zionists, unlike the Muslims, do not accept the validity of halacha in any matter pertaining to personal status.
2. The zionists could arrest the hasan for rape, and prosecute everyone at the wedding, including guests, as accessories to rape.

4. Whether 17 year olds are ready to get married is not something that should be left to the zionist kenesset – that’s a question for the parents. In America, most states allow girls under a set age to marriage as long as there is some procedure to show she is doing so voluntarily.
5. Israel is under a demographic threat with hareidim (and to a lesser extent Arabs, though their birthrate is falling) growing at an unacceptable rate. The law is a mild attempt to reduce the threat (i.e. babies born to frum families). It will fail, and they will probably consider more drastic measures (in similar situations, other countries have tried forced sterilization, abortions, or removing children from the undesirable social group to be raised by “normal” families). This isn’t about concern over the welfare of 17 years old girls – it’s an example of blatant bigotry and hatred.

Mr. Kupermam, since you use the internet, you can certainly look up the fact that even in America, 18 is generally the minimum age for marriage (in Nebraska one must be 19 and in Mississippi 21). Below that age, one often requires court permission, and even then there are age limits, usually 16. According to this article, this law requires people being 18, and those below require court permission.
