NYC: Snow/Sleet/Freezing Rain Expected Late Tonight Through Wednesday Evening


weaLight snow begins to fall late this evening before midnight. The heaviest snow is expected after midnight through Wednesday morning. The snow will begin to transition to sleet/freezing rain during the morning hours. The precipitation will begin to taper off by Wednesday evening.

PRECIPITATION AND TIMING
Light snow is expected late this evening around midnight. The heaviest snow will fall between midnight and 4:00 AM Wednesday morning. Snowfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour are possible during this time. The snow will transition to sleet/freezing rain in the NYC area around 4:00 AM and continue through Wednesday. The precipitation will move out of the area around 6:00 PM Wednesday evening. Total snow accumulation for Manhattan and the Bronx is 3 to 6 inches including 0.25-0.5 inch of ice. Total snow accumulation for Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island is 2 to 4 inches including 0.33 inch of ice.

Wednesday: Highs in the low 30’s
Wednesday night: Lows in the mid 20’s
