NYC Mayor Softens Tone On Charter Schools

debMayor Bill de Blasio has softened his stance on the controversial charter school issue.

The mayor on Sunday admitted “not measuring up when it came to explaining” his message.

He promised to find a new location for the 194 students at Success Academy run his longtime political foe Eva Moskowitz.

De Blasio had barred the academy and two other charter schools from locating in public schools.

Earlier this month, the academy filed a federal civil rights suit opposing the mayor’s decision.

The mayor also has clashed on charters schools with Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

De Blasio struck the conciliatory tone toward charter schools in a speech at Riverside Church in Manhattan.

He said children in all schools — public, charter and religious — “deserve a solution.”
