Moetzas Gedolei Hatorah of Agudas Yisrael Plans to Meet Next Week

moetThe Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael of Agudas Yisrael is planning to convene next week. The admorim shlita will have to decide what policy to announce regarding talmidim who receive IDF draft notices. To date, the policy has been to report to the induction center once to fill out personal information. This has also been the policy of the Moetzas Gedolei Hatorah of Degel Hatorah. The Yerushalmim faction that follows HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach Shlita has been instructed not to report to any induction center at any time.

According to information leaked to the media, the Belzer Rebbe still feels reporting once is the best option for the immediate future. The rebbe feels total defiance will just exacerbate the situation and lead to expediting what may be an eventual conflict between the government and chareidim. This position is also backed by the Sadigura Rebbe Shlita. The Vishnitzer Rebbe Shlita and Slonim Rebbe Shlita do not agree, and they oppose reporting to induction centers entirely. They feel the recent passage of the draft law and related legislation are tantamount to throwing sand in the eyes of the chareidi tzibur and the situation demands a harsher response.

The Gerre, Sanzer, Moditz, and Biala Rebbes Shlita appear undecided at this point. They are not convinced that there is a definitive response at present. Sanz feels that while talmidim should continue reporting one time, they are not ruling out a more extreme response in line with recent developments in the IDF against yeshivos. Undoubtedly, the decision of the Gerrer Rebbe’s decision is likely to influence others as has been the case in the past.

  1. The zionists are waging war against the Torah Community and the Torah Community can not sit idly by and play patsy. We need to defend ourselves from them. We need to oppose them in all venues. We need to reject the zionists and zionism. We need to refuse to cooperate or participate in their evil laws.

  2. #2 It’s a kosher telephone which Gedolim did not assur, which means no internet and only connecting to kosher numbers.

If all Rabbanim will unite and decide no reporting to induction centers, there’s nothing the government can do about it. It’s not as if they can imprison thousands of boys each year. Even jailing 1 boy and having kiddush Hashem protests blocking highways throughout Israel for it, is not very pleasant for the Zionist government.

  3. Grow up yw613. Either you are ignorant or just looking to incite hatred. Only smartphones were forbidden and for good reason. If this had been a picure of a meeting of smartphone-users, you wouldn’t be able to see their faces as undoubtedly most would be looking down at their phone as most addicts do a large portion of their day. Notice that the phone in the picture is just sitting there. Being that it is not a smartphone, its only purpose is for receiving and making calls and it therefore is not disturbing anyone’s ability to interact like humans used to do.

  4. yw613, I am not aware of an issur using cell phones that have no internet access. as far as the question concerned, ben torah, when you wage a war you have to pick the right battles

  5. Why does YWN seem to ignore the holy Bostoner Rebbe of Har Nof Shlita? He is no less a great leader than any of his colleagues the other members of the Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah. What are his views on the draft? What has he instructed his chassidim to do?
