Why Did the US Turn to Qatar and Turkey

tpmThere are those who posit that the recent turn to Qatar and Turkey by the US was not an accident, but an intentional move to promote the White House’s plan to expand the new Islam and the Muslim Brotherhood at the expense of Israel and moderate Arab nations including Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

The feeling is US President Barak Obama began laying the groundwork for his new Mideast plan in his first term and now, in his second term he is working to impellent the policy. Hence the turn to Qatar and Turkey, clearly a slap in the face to America’s allies in the region. While the White House has been yelling about a two-state solution over the years, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) was not even a part of the Kerry initiative, opting to ignore Ramallah and preferring to bring Qatar into the picture. While Abu Mazen is now fighting for position in ongoing ceasefire efforts, the PA leader lacks the authority to go it alone, and at best can be a messengers for Cairo in the process.

Clearly the US administration’s cold shoulder policy to Israel during the Obama years is not only detrimental to American interests in the Middle East; the current administration is also compromising American interests on its own soil.

The ongoing ceasefire effort that includes Hamas represents United States de facto recognition of Hamas, which is listed as a terror organization, signing a death warrant for the 1.8 million Gazans that would prefer seeing 800,000 tons of cement used to build schools, hotels and a tourism industry instead of an underground terror network.

Former Israeli Ambassador to the US and Defense Minister Prof. Moshe Arens explains that he feels the current administration may not have bad intentions, but it is clearly lost as to a basic understanding of the Mideast and its realities. He told Channel 2 News on Wednesday morning 3 Menachem Av that one mistake, ok, but every six months to a year throughout both terms in office one sees the blunders of the Obama administration, which clearly seems to have a different agenda towards Israel and the moderate Arab nations in the region.

  1. Moshe Arens is being kind, or perhaps politically correct.
I think Mr Arens knows, as any thinking person will have deduced by now, that these are not “blunders.”
The current administration clearly has an agenda.
    And it’s frightening.

  2. Obama should be investigated. I will not be surprised to find out that he is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.

  3. Enough!
Obama ought to be despised and probably hated for his domestic and social policy, and that does impact all else
(and may have destroyed america’s strength ,possibly forever)

However, his foreign policy, while shiftless, has been rather to the center

  4. IMHO President Obama has also done many positive things for Israel and Jews.

Us amateur “Arm-chair warriors” think we are qualified to criticize and condemn our Head-of-Government as if we are all such great experts in politics and warfare.

(And some Israeli government officials too sometimes behave a tad too arrogantly and Chutzpah’dig.)

Sometimes the President behaves like a casual friend, and sometimes like a good friend, and sometimes like a great friend, and sometimes his actions are questionable.
This is typical for all Presidents.

Bottom line: Don’t forget we are in Galus (and btw, IT IS “THE 9 DAYS”!) and we must be careful before shooting our mouths off….

  5. He doesn’t appear to have a foreign policy. It seems like this is all shooting from the hip, hastily thought up proposals.

  6. Why Did the US Turn to Qatar and Turkey?

Because both of these countries are committed to supporting Hamas and its objective to eliminate Israel. In this current crisis, US sees them as the allies. Notice that it is only the Obama/Kerry team that has sought the assistance of Qatar and Turkey. No one in Congress (either side of the aisle) contacted either of these two sworn enemies of Israel.

    Name Them:

“Us amateur “Arm-chair warriors” think we are qualified to criticize and condemn our Head-of-Government as if we are all such great experts in politics and warfare.”

This is your mistake -this has nothing to do with understanding warfare or politics, but this has to do with saving Jewish lives.

“(And some Israeli government officials too sometimes behave a tad too arrogantly and Chutzpah’dig.)”

The only ones with Chutzpah, are the ones who feel & act like Jewish blood is cheap!

“Bottom line: Don’t forget we are in Galus (and btw, IT IS “THE 9 DAYS”!) and we must be careful before shooting our mouths off….”

We also must be careful not to cause any harm to Jew
