Hamas Working to Rebuild Terror Tunnels

tunWith a ceasefire in place, Hamas in Gaza is doing what it does best, preparing for the next round of warfare.

IDF officials during Operation Protective Edge announced they destroyed over 30 terrorist tunnels connecting from Gaza to southern Israel. It now appears that as the parties are expected to meet in Cairo to hammer out a long-term ceasefire, Hamas is back to business, the reconstruction of the tunnels. Since an agreement with Hamas has not been signed, it remains to be seen just how Israel will respond to Hamas’ activities.

In a related matter, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman recently announced that the rehabilitation of Gaza must be directly linked to the demilitarization of Gaza. The senior minister stressed that this is essential and rebuilding Gaza must be directly linked to this for if not nothing will have changed and another round of warfare is inevitable.

President Reuven Rivlin stated Gaza can only become demilitarized if stripped of all its weaponry. He added that it serves the interests of the free world to see Gaza rebuilt and rehabilitated but only if those involved compel Hamas to give up its weapons and abandon its military aspirations.
