Rosh Yeshivat Ohr HaChaim HaGaon HaRav Reuven Elbaz Shlita was interviewed by Channel 1 ahead of the first yahrzeit of Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L. Rav Elbaz began by explaining that anyone who believes the void created by the petira of Maran is sorely mistaken.
He went on to explain his ongoing efforts to unite Shas and bring the party back to the realities of yesterday. He explained that he has been meeting with and talking to son of Rav Yosef in addition to other rabbonim, reporting all concerned are aware that must find a common ground and unite for without achdus the party will not succeed. Clearly the rav is working to return Rishon L’Tzion HaGaon HaRav Moshe Shlomo Amar back in favor with party leaders and the Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael.
Rav Elbaz believes that if Shas is united internally, the party can get closer to Agudas Yisrael and Degel Hatorah.
Rabbi Elbaz also spoke of the need to mend fences between party leader Aryeh Deri and former leader Eli Yishai.
