Fundraiser to Assist Former Jerusalem Mayor Rav Lupoliansky

lupHaving been found guilty in the Holyland Real Estate trial, former Jerusalem Mayor Rabbi Uri Lupoliansky is compelled to pay a 500,000 NIS fine. His prison sentence has been placed on hold pending the outcome of his Supreme Court appeal, as is the case with the other defendants in the case.

Friends of Lupoliansky are busy raising funds to assist him in paying the fine. Friends of Lupoliansky explained to the media that his entire life is dedicated to assisting others, a person who is the embodiment of chessed and today he is in need of assistance.

Tzvika Chernokovsky, a close friend and behind the fundraising initiative, explains that he has permission from Lupoliansky to engage in the fundraising effort on the former mayor’s behalf.

  1. Anyone caught helping him paying the fine will be targetted for prosecution. The real crime in Lupoliansky was for being involved in Israeli politics outside the hareidi community, or as we said in America “now knowing your place.”

  2. Wait a minute – will these well-meaning individuals match shekel for shekel to feed the Chareidi poor? We are talking about paying a fine of someone convicted of criminal behavior, not a former Gvir down on his luck. I think this fundraising campaign is completely misplaced.
