Firebomb Attacks into Armon HaNatziv Continue


parThere was another firebomb attack in the Armon HaNatziv neighborhood of Jerusalem on motzei Shabbos Parshas Vayigash. A firebomb landed on the balcony of a home on Meir Nakev Street. B’chasdei Hashem there were no fatalities or injuries. The local community council leader, Yehuda Ben-Yosef, told the media the area that is repeatedly targeted sits on the border with the Jabil Mukhaber neighborhood. “In the past, there has been a model of dual existence” he explained to the media, but today, things have taken a sharp turn in the direction of hostility and a cessation of dual existence.

The situation improved for a period of time as a company of border police were placed in the area but now, after the border police have been removed, the attacks from the Arab neighborhood have resumed.

Ben-Yosef told the press on Sunday morning 6 Teves that there is a problem in Jabil Mukhaber with a small number of residents and that most do not feel this way. He played down the attack because no one was injured and expressed hope that through dialogue they will return to being a model of dual existence. “To my sorrow, of late the seamline communities have become the focus of problems. We held a meeting with other seamline community representatives and we hope dialogue will result in an end to the current situation”.
