Ariel Interested in Becoming Minister of Education

arielHousing Minister (Bayit Yehudi) Uri Ariel told Galei Yisrael Radio on Sunday, 9 Nissan that it would be wonderful if his party was given the Education Ministry, adding he is interested in becoming the next minister of education.

Ariel feels the ministry is among the most important cabinet posts available and he hopes his party will gain control of it as it is trying to do. When asked if the education portfolio is more important than becoming foreign ministry, he stated that without a question the education slot is more important.

Talks to form the next government resumed on Sunday morning 9 Nissan and it appears the breakdown in talks between Likud and Bayit Yehudi continues.

In addition to Bayit Yehudi, the Shas and Likud parties are very interested in controlling the education portfolio. PM Netanyahu is under enormous pressure to keep the education portfolio in-house, and appoint a party member to head the ministry.

  1. I am interested in becoming Israel’s foreign minister. I feel fully qualified for the position. I am multi- linguist. I speak English (with Hungarian accent) and a bisselle Yiddish. How much do they pay, what are the perks, vacation, sick days? In short, I am ready to negotiate the entire compensation package.

You are most likely overqualified for the position. Do you perhaps lack a high-school diploma? If so, you can apply for the Finance Minister position.

  3. Finance Minister? Sounds good, actually, that’s where the money is. But I must brush up on my math. My arithmetic never adds up. As far as high-school diploma, who needs one? My predecessor, the honorable Yair Lapid didn’t have high school diploma either. So, I settle for Finance Minister. I understand, I will be driven in a chauffeur-driven Volvo. I really prefer BMW, but in my humility I will not make an essek about it.
