Jerusalem Post columnist Caroline Glick used a panel discussion on Sunday, 20 Sivan, at the Jerusalem Post Conference to accuse former Mossad Intelligence Agency Director Meir Dagan and former IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi of preventing an IDF attack against Iran’s nuclear program. Others serving on the panel included former National Security Advisor Giora Eiland and former Chief of Military Intelligence Uzi Dayan.
Dagan in his response told Glick “you were not there and you do not know what happened”. He added that he never disobeyed an order given by the prime minister. He further explained that in compliance with the law, the cabinet would have to approve a massive call-up of reservists and if those steps would have been taken in compliance with the law, an attack could have been ordered.
Ultimately, weighing the options and scenarios the prime minister opted against an attack, Dagan explained, backed up by Ashkenazi, who said Glick’s allegations were an “insult”.
