Arson Attack in the Har HaZeisim Cemetery


20150902014417Another attack took place in Har HaZeisim, close to midnight on Tuesday night 17 Elul. The weapon in the latest attack was arson, which caused damage to a number of matzeivos and the surrounding area.

The attackers gathers dry brush in the area to start the fire, which spread. Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control quickly. As firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control, they noticed some of the matzeivos were smashed.

Fire marshals indicate evidence at the scene points to arson.

  1. Most of those graves cost many thousands of dollars to purchase. How infuriating then, when neither the government nor the chevra kadisha who collects those huge sums of money, do anything to protect those buried there, or those who want to visit their loved ones.
