VIDEO AND PHOTOS: Terror Strikes the Jerusalem Bus Station Area Again [UPDATED 8:01PM IL]

HERE IS  A RECAP OF THIS ATTACK – EARLIER UPDATES BELOW:

19:33: A terrorist stabbed a woman in her 50s at the Jerusalem Central Bus Station, injuring her moderately. He then ran to get on a bus at the number 68 bus stop. B’chasdei Hashem the driver saw the knife being pulled out as he was going to board and closed the doors in his face. At this points persons began chasing him, realizing what was taking place.

A Yassam policeman and a civilian shot and killed the terrorist. A number of people sustained light injuries from running for cover, falling or striking objects in the panic.

The wounded woman was transported to Shaare Zedek Medical Center.

Police are beginning to reopen the area to vehicular traffic.

The ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) adds the terrorist has been identified as 23-year-old Ahmed Shaaben, from Ras el-Amud, one of the areas where security forces placed concrete barriers to check those coming and going from the Arab area in the Jerusalem district. He was imprisoned in Israel for his terrorist activities from 2012-2015

18:41: Conflicting reports regarding the exact location, possibly the Jerusalem central bus station or closer to the Cord’s Bridge. There are reports of shooting and stabbing. More to follow.

18:43: It appears a terrorist tried to stab a border policeman at the bus station or in proximity, but was shot and wounded/killed before he could harm the policeman.

MDA Chief Eli Bin reports there are wounded at the scene. More to follow.

18:45: It appears the terrorist tried to enter the bus station, at which time he stabbed a woman who appears in light-to-moderate condition.

Zaka reports the terrorist tried to stab a border policeman on a bus. It is confirmed that the terrorist is neutralized at this time.

18:55: A Yassam commando policeman fired and killed the terrorist before he could get to a bus according to the preliminary investigators. A citizen also fired at the terrorist as he was near the door of a bus.

19:00: Police were searching for a possible second terrorist based on statements from eyewitnesses. B”H police moments ago announced they have determined that there was only one terrorist, who was shot dead.

19:07: Shaare Zedek Medical Center Chief of trauma medicine Dr. Ofir Marin reports the woman’s injuries are less serious than first believed and B”H she is not in life threatening danger.

19:11: Ichud Hatzalah CEO Ze’ev Kashash was among the first on the scene and he explains the woman was injured in her upper torso. He explains Ichud volunteers also treated a number of other people with very light injuries sustained while running for cover inside or near the bus station.

Comment on the news about the arches and express your support.

Bh the yeshivos started today and kolelim so we have some real protection it is so easy to rely on the soldiers especially when we see how effectively they eliminate the terrorists.We have to trust in hashem he wants us to cry out to him. It is scary to think that all this was decreed just over 2 weeks ago on Yom kippur.The video yesterday was a real shake up for any one who saw it. May we only see yeshuois soon .

  4. Here on Los Angeles, there was and continues to be community Tehilim gatherings and we are Davening and saying extra Tefilos in Shul. Who is able to hear/watch these horrible tragedies and not feel the need to Daven. I want to stress (based on Chazal and my Rebbeim) that it is not always HOW MUCH we Daven but HOW we Daven. Enough of the cell phones out during Davening, talking during Davening and talking business in Shul. “Echad hamarbe veechad hamamit ubilvad sheyechavin es libo lashamayim. Hashem Yerachem.
