Three Soldiers Lightly Injured in Two Attempted Vehicular Ramming Attacks in Kalandia

terThere were two attempted vehicular ramming attacks in Kalandia during the night (Tuesday to Wednesday) of 4 Teves. Soldiers who were targeted were involved in an operation in the PA (Palestinian Authority) area, looking for wanted suspects and razing the home of a terrorist. Kalandia borders the northern capital as well as being south of Ramallah and el-Bireh. In both cases, the terrorist was shot dead but in the second attempted attack, soldiers were lightly wounded by mistaken gunfire. They were transported to Jerusalem hospitals.

Military officials report that at first soldiers were attacked with rocks, bottles and firebombs as well as garbage receptacles set ablaze in the area. At some point, Duvdevan sharpshooters who were providing cover for the combat engineering corps soldiers operating in the area saw about ten armed terrorists heading in the direction of the force in a vehicle. They fired at them, killing two. A third terrorist was gravely wounded by the IDF gunfire.

A bit later into the night the sharpshooters detected another vehicle heading towards the soldiers with five terrorists inside. Once again they fired, reporting they hit some of them.

The soldiers were operating in Kalandia to destroy the home of the terrorist responsible for the murder of Danny Gonen HY”D in November 2015.

Hadassah Hospital officials report a total of four persons arrived for treatment from the Kalandia operation; three in Ein Kerem and two in Mt. Scopus, all listed in light condition.
