The Chief Rabbinate of Israel Council has released a lengthy message expressing concerns over increasingly growing Chilul Shabbos. The message from the council speaks of the central role Shabbos has played in Am Yisrael’s past and how Shabbos maintains and protects the Jewish People. The rabbonim shlita call on decision-makers to distance themselves from thoughts and actions of changing the realities that existed since the establishment of the state, the religious status quo. The council explains “Shabbos is not negotiable”, calling on chareidi parties to remain firm and not to agree to any compromise regarding Kedushas Shabbos.
