Bomb Threat Grounds Plane At Salt Lake Airport [UPDATED 11:36AM EST]


10:55AM EST: A SkyWest airplane headed to Salt Lake City from Helena, Mont. is isolated on the ground at the Salt Lake International Airport due to a bomb threat.

Airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann told KSL someone called in the threat to the airport Thursday morning. Details of the call have not been released.

All 46 passengers on board have left the plane and are being questioned in an airport terminal.

Crews are going through the plane, looking for signs of a bomb or anything suspicious.

Other air traffic is not affected.

UPDATE FROM FOX 13:

Airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann says a threatening call was made by phone, indicating that there was an incendiary device on board. She says that means a possible bomb threat. There are 46 people on board the flight, which is on the ground right now.

The plane departed at 6:15 a.m. from Helena, Montana and landed at about 8 a.m. in Salt Lake City.

The aircraft at this time is not returning to the terminal and is being taken to an unknown location. Passengers will then be taken off the plane at the location and officials will then search the aircraft.

Fox 13’s Ben Winslow says the FBI is interviewing the passengers. He also says there is a large law enforcement presence on the scene including FBI, a bomb sniffing dog, airport security, fire officials and police. The Bomb Squad is also on the scene.

UPDATE 11:36AM EST: Delta Airlines issued a statement saying Skywest flight 4654 landed just before 8 a.m. Thursday at Salt Lake City International Airport, and all passengers were safely taken off the aircraft.
